Ricardo E. Buitrago R.
Ricardo E. Buitrago R. serves as an Associate Research Professor in Strategy and International Management at EGADE Business School, Tecnológico de Monterrey. Prior to joining EGADE, he held leadership roles as Program Head and Dean at various Colombian universities, and has been a Visiting Professor at several institutions across Latin America. Dr. Buitrago, President of the Business Association for Latin American Studies (BALAS), is also the Executive Director of the Emerging Multinationals Research Network (EMRN) also serves as the Ambassador for the Andean region within the IE-Scholars network.
With research interests at the intersection of international political economy, institutions, strategy, and international business, he has served as an editor and reviewer for a range of top-tier journals, including the Journal of Business Research, International Business Review, European Management Journal, and International Studies of Management & Organization. Before transitioning to academia, he gained practical experience in the banking sector. He worked as a consultant for various financial institutions in Colombia and Puerto Rico and as a Project and Marketing Manager in multiple Colombian firms.
Dr. Buitrago's academic credentials are extensive and diverse. He holds a Ph.D. in System Dynamics from Università degli Studi di Palermo and another Ph.D. in Public Policy and Management Modeling from the Universidad de Bogotá Jorge Tadeo Lozano. Further, he has a Master's in International Relations from Pontificia Universidad Javeriana and specialized training in International Business Management from Universidad de Bogotá Jorge Tadeo Lozano, where he also earned his Bachelor's degree in International Trade.
